Intro

Greatness. A word that I feel is one of the most misused terms today. I’m not here to try and define or redefine the word. Far from it. My goal is to share with you what I consider true greatness. Too often, we seem to assign the label to anyone and anything that’s popular. In fact, some genres of music are little more than ongoing documents of a person bragging about how great he/she is, while they never do anything truly great.
It’s the same in sporting competition. Some of the most well-known athletes are known more for their idiotic behavior and large contracts than they are for their qualities as a teammate, or who they truly are as a human being. Ditto for the Hollywood crowd; people can’t get enough of the Lindsey Lohans of the world, or any of the other irresponsible celebrities who are inexplicably put on a pedestal.

In the future, I might share a blog or two about an athlete, musician or Hollywood star but I’ll make little to no mention of their so-called “achievements”. I’ll write of their success as humans; how they’ve helped others; how much dedication they’ve shown to the common good.

I strive to be a successful man yet money has nothing to do with the success I seek. Sure, money is unfortunately necessary but as long as I have enough to make a few zoo trips a month, a few camping trips throughout the year and enough for a full-on family vacation every February, I’m good. After all, what more does a man really need?

These People of Greatness are those who have inspired me and others. Some may be known worldwide, others may only be known within their own families. But I assure you that each and every one of them have more than a few things in common.

Dedication.
Selflessness.
Faith.

Love.
If a person has those four little things in order, everything else will fall into place naturally.

So, I would like to give advance thanks to those who I write of, as well as those of you who take the time out of your busy days to read what I share here. If you are as inspired by these People of Greatness as I am, if you feel that reading what I have to offer has added to your life, or even if you crack a fraction of a smile; then I consider my efforts more than worth it.
